In the majority of cases the teacher/tutor has responsibility for the assessment of learner evidence. This means that in addition to teaching/delivering a programme you will also have responsibility for assessing, marking and grading the learner evidence. There are some steps you can follow to help you to plan how and when you are going to assess your learners.

1. Know the following: your provider's quality assurance agreement your subject matter the different assessment techniques the major award your learner is hoping to achieve the assessment requirements of your programme
2. In the provider's programme module refer to the mapping of learning outcomes to assessment techniques
3. Participate in planning meetings with your colleagues
4. Write: an assessment brief(s)/ examination paper(s), as appropriate to the assessment technique being used to assess the learner a marking scheme(s) / outline solutions * Write an integrated assessment brief, if appropriate
5. Inform learners about assessment
6. Keep records and documentation relating to assessment
7. Comply with all relevant assessment requirements
