Differentiation in the mixed ability classroom
Whether it is Youthreach or adults returning to education, the Further Education classroom presents tutors/teachers/instructors with a diverse cohort of learners with a wide range of learning needs. This session offers teachers an opportunity to reflect on how to differentiate their teaching to respond to this challenge. It includes:
· Exploring how learners differ so as to be able to develop responses to their learning needs.
· Practical strategies to help increase engagement of all learners from the struggling learner to the exceptionally able.
· An opportunity to share practice with colleagues from different schools/centres.
The target audience for this session is: FET staff including management, teachers, tutors, trainers, programme coordinators, guidance counsellors, learning support staff and wellbeing officers.
