Join us in celebrating Autism Awareness Month by attending this focused talk on 'Understanding Autism in a Learning Environment' delivered by AsIAm’s Training Officer, Cíara Dalton. This interactive session will be primarily based on the previous FESS PD session delivered by Cíara in November of 2025 aiming to refresh whilst expanding upon some of the topics covered in this session. The session will delve into the Autistic experience, so that tutors and facilitators have the knowledge and tools to best support their Autistic students. The below topics will be covered:

- Understanding Autism and Neurodiversity
- The importance of inclusivity in education
- Recognising individual needs
- Creating supportive learning environments
- Effective communication and engagement
- The Sensory Environment
- Resources and support networks

Target audience is: Staff in learner facing roles including teachers, trainers, learning support officers and staff, administrators and key workers. Those in co-ordination and management roles.

Facilitator: Ciara Dalton, Training Officer, AsIAm
Ciara holds an undergraduate in Creative and Cultural Industries and a master’s degree in Criminology. She has over five years’ experience delivering Music and Arts workshops to young people with SubSounds and Music Generation and brings a strong creative and educational background to her role. Ciara has a personal connection to the work of AsIAm through her experience of Autism within her family, which has fuelled her passion for increasing understanding of autism in Irish society and helping to create more inclusive and supportive communities.
