If you are a teacher or tutor in a school, in the first instance please contact the person with responsibility for overseeing QQI activities in your school who can then follow the steps below:
- I want to apply for validation of a programme:
Contact your regional support officer for a programme information form
Once completed, forward the form to your regional support officer who will check it for accuracy, for example, award codes, combination of components, appropriate credit value, programme descriptor/module developed and available etc.
FESS will then forward the form to QQI
QQI will then update the relevant section of the provider's QBS page
You will then make an application for validation, via the QBS
Once proof of validation by QQI is presented to your regional support officer, FESS can release the programme information to you
- I want to add a new programme module to an already validated programme:
In specific circumstances, it may be possible to add a programme module to an already validated programme. The following conditions apply:
1. This programme has been validated by QQI for use by your school/provider
2. The programme module is appropriate to the purpose of the major award
3. By adding the programme module/s it constitutes a change of less than 20% of the overall programme
4. Your school notifies and agrees this change with QQI prior to delivery of the amended programme. You may do this by completing this form. Once you have received confirmation from QQI that this programme module has been validated please contact your regional support officer who will forward the appropriate programme module to you.
Note: However if the programme module you wish to add has already been validated for your provider, as part of another programme, then it is not necessary to agree this addition with QQI.
I am a teacher/tutor/centre manager working with a community and/or voluntary provider
If you wish to view a list of all programmes and programme modules developed under the ETBI-led shared programme development initiative up to June 2014 please click here.
In order to access the programmes developed as part of the ETBI-led shared programme development initiative, community and voluntary providers must be in receipt of funding from the Department of Education and Skills. Please contact your regional support officer for a programme information form to begin the process.

The following programmes have been validated by FETAC for use by those VECs that were listed in the joint application for programme validation. Only those VECs listed in the joint application can offer these programmes to their learners.
FETAC has also approved the following programmes for sharing with Department of Education and Skills funded providers. If a VEC was not part of the joint application for programme validation, that VEC can apply to FETAC to view these programmes. FETAC will forward the programmes, on request, together with an application form which will facilitate a VEC to make an application for validation. Once validated by FETAC, programmes can then be offered to learners.
