These hands-on workshops will focus on active teaching and learning approaches that will help to support enjoyable and interactive learning in the classroom. This should help to engage and motivate learners and encourage lateral thinking, group work, critical analysis and reflection. The session will introduce teachers/tutors to a range of different activities that are quick and easy to implement in their classrooms and learning contexts.

The facilitator for these sessions is Miriam O' Donoghue, Deputy Director of the CDETB Curriculum Development Unit and National Manager of the Further Education Support Service (FESS).

The target audience for these workshops is teachers and tutors working in FET.

This CPD event aims to provide information to those teachers, tutors and trainers delivering modules leading to Fundamentals of Object Oriented Programming 5N0541 and Object Oriented Programming 6N2108 by offering insights into the following:

  • Object Orientated Programming language and IDE selection (if not already selected)
  • Object Orientated Programming, Methodologies and Best Practices
  • Object Orientated Programming Assessment
  • Depth of topic for Level 5 and Level 6
  • Object Orientated Laboratory work
  • Object Orientated Examinations

A full set of notes, labs, assessment and past examination papers will be available for the Level 6 module, which would be transferable to the Level 5 module.

This one day workshop will explore with participants a TEL Mentoring Model that can be implemented in FET organisations, colleges and centres to support FET teachers, tutors and trainers to embed the use of digital technologies in their FET classrooms.

TEL Mentors who are working with the TELMs Erasmus+ project will discuss their experiences of working with the model and framework to enhance learning and teaching and share their experiences of working with colleagues as mentees.
